 RESONANCE: THE CACOPHONY is a tabletop roleplaying game about beings who can hear the Hum. Who can shape it. Who understand that reality is not fixed—it is a song, and they are learning to sing.

 What Is Resonance?

A game of connection, consequence, and the power of collective voice. You are Singers—beings who have awakened to the Hum and discovered they can influence it through resonance. You are not heroes. You are not chosen. You are simply listening, and in listening, you have become part of the song.

The world is changing. The Age of the Second Cradle has begun. Old powers are waking. New forces are emerging. And the Singers must decide: What song will they sing into being?

Core Themes

Connection: The Hum connects all things. Your character's power comes not from individual strength, but from resonance with others—with your fellow Singers, with the land, with the forces that shape reality.

Consequence: Every note matters. Every choice ripples through the Hum. There are no small actions in a world where reality is shaped by collective resonance. What you do changes the song.

Witness: You are not just players in this world—you are witnesses to its transformation. You hold the stories, the memories, the weight of what is changing. This is a sacred responsibility.

The Hum: Reality is not fixed. It is a resonance—a song sung by countless voices across time. You are learning to hear it. Learning to shape it. Learning what it means to be part of something so vast and so intimate.

The Seven Choirs

You choose your Choir—your lineage, your connection to the Hum. Each Choir hears the Hum differently. Each brings unique gifts and unique burdens.

- The Choir of Anchors: Hippos, Rhinos, beings who are made to be the wall

- The Choir of Thresholds: Guardians of the Liminal

- The Choir of the Deep Roads: Beings of immense wisdom from the very depths

- And more: Each Choir has its own story, its own relationship to the Hum, its own role in the unfolding song.

The Four Forces

Reality is shaped by four fundamental forces—each one a different aspect of the Hum:

- Animus: The force of intention, will, and consciousness

- Dissonance: The force of conflict, change, and transformation

- Resonance: The force of connection, harmony, and alignment

- Silence: The force of rest, reflection, and the space between notes

 Every action, every choice, every moment of play involves these forces. Understanding them is understanding how to shape reality itself.
